Site for Save-A-Lot store in Kane

This building on North Fraley Street in Kane soon will house a Save-A-Lot grocery store, which is expected to employ about 25 full and part-time workers. Bill Larson, who has ties to Mt. Jewett and now operates a Save-A-Lot in Bradford, is one of the principal owners of the new store.

All 32 classrooms in the new elementary school in Kane are equipped with new 7x4-foot "SMARTboards," which are linked with an overhead digital projector and the teachers' computer. Mark Candalor (left) is the technology director for the Kane Area School District. Chris Niklaus (right) is the assistant technology director.

Save-A-Lot grocery store to open Sept. 1 in Kane

Renovations for Save-A-Lot store

Renovations are well under way for a Save-A-Lot grocery store, which is scheduled to open Sept. 1 in Kane. The site for the store is a North Fraley Street building that formerly housed Buyer's Fair and once housed a Market Basket grocery store. Gaylord Construction of Andover, N.Y. is the main contractor for the renovations.

Judge Kennedy, known for fairness, retires from post

District judge retires

Michael Kennedy has retired after serving as judge for the Kane Magisterial District for 16 years. Kennedy, shown here with his wife, Gina at their home in Wetmore Township, plans to move to Florida. The judge, 59, took a medical leave of absence last September before officially retiring earlier this year.
