Pete D. Bowen, 77, of 1304 Highland Rd., Kane, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Rochester (N.Y.) General Hospital. Born March 1, 1933 in Corry, he was the son of Daniel A. and Marie E. Baker Bowen. On Aug. 27, 1951 in Kane, he married Marie E. Morris, who survives. Mr. Bowen owned and operated the Bowen Sunoco service station in Rochester for 47 years. He enjoyed mechanics, farming and the outdoors. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Evelyn Walton of Rochester, N.Y., Autum (Jim) McCanna of Kane, Anna (Joe) Woytowiez of Altoona, Rose Bowen of Brookston, Betty (Roy) Stillman of Kane and Peggy Walton of Rochester; and sons Daniel (Rhonda) Bowen of Kane, Ollie (Ruby) Bowen of Kane and Mark (Stephanie) Walton of Rochester. Thirty-six grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a sister Jeanette Gadson and a daughter, Thelma Jean, in infancy. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane. Memorial contributions may be made to a church of charity of the donor's choice.
