Paul Joseph âBogieâ Biel, 62, of Old Kane Rd., Wilcox, died unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, during the course of one of his favorite hobbies.
He was born Dec. 13, 1947, in Ridgway, son Olga (Damier) Biel of Wilcox, and the late Vincent Biel.
On Oct. 14, 1972, he married Donna Zawatski, who survives.
Donna L. Wiler, 60, of 2 Chari Ln., Warren, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
Donna was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, on Jan. 15, 1950, a daughter of the late Elizabeth C. (Thompson) and Frederick L. Kelley.
Donald Espin, 79, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at the Lutheran Home at Kane where he had resided.
Born Oct. 5, 1931, in Ludlow, he was a son of John and Anna Turay Espin. OnÂ Feb. 19, 1955, at St. Callistus Church in Kane, he married Constance âConnieâ Colella who survives.
Don was a member of St. Callistus Church where he served as an usher.Â He also was a past member of the Kane Country Club and the Kane Elks Club.Â During the Korean Conflict, he served with the Navy aboard the USS Wasp.
Donald âMooseâ E. Garris, 73, of 526 Welsh St., died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at his residence.
Born Dec. 17, 1936, in Kane, he was a son of Harry Eugene and Mary Gault Garris. On Nov. 17, 1955, in New York City, he marriedÂ Rose Marie Castellucia who preceded him in death.
Mr. Garris had been employed as a truck driver for Met Foods.Â He was a member of the Kane VFW, the Mt. Jewett Legion,The Mt. Jewett Sportsman Club and the Wilcox Sportsman Club.
He also was a veterean, having served in the U.S. Air Force.
Gerald W. Leonard, 83, of 312 Welsh St., died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.
Born July 9, 1927, in Wolf Run, he was a son of Audrey and Clara Dougherty Leonard.Â
Mr. Leonard had been employed by Penn DOT from which he retired after 30 years.
Surviving are a son, Gary Leonard of Kane; a daughter, Rhonda Marcinko of Girard; and two grandsons.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Ralph Leonard and a sister, June Leonard.
Kenneth M. Chester, age 87, of Edgewater, Fla., died in his home on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010. He was cared for in his failing health by his daughter, Doreen.
Joyce B. Danielson, 79, of 2 High Point Dr., formerly of Mt. Jewett, died Monday morning, Nov. 22, 2010, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 5, 1930, in Kane, she was a daughter of Ernest and Margaret Starner Cunningham.Â On June 27, 1953, in Mt. Jewett, she married Dale Danielson who preceded her in death.
A graduate of Mt. Jewett High School Class of 1948 and Mansfield Teachersâ College in 1952, she was employed as a school teacher for 38 years in Wellsville, N.Y., Spring Mills, Centre Hall, Hazel Hurst, Kane and Smethport from which she retired.
R. James "Jim" Long died on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, age 67, of Penn Hills, formerly of West Newton; beloved husband of Mary M. Joyce "Peggy"; loving father of Richard Long (Maggie) and Paul Long; brother of Barbara Wool (Mick), Richard Long (Marie) and Carol Mumau (Ralph); and also six grandchildren and several nieces.
Jim served aboard the USS Intrepid in the Navy and was retired from Mellon Bank.
Friends were received Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Charles W. Trenz Funeral Home, Inc., 11110 Frankstown Rd., Penn Hills.
Virginia Shall, 94, formerly of 410 N. Fraley St., died Friday (November 19, 2010) at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she resided.
Born Oct. 25, 1916, in St. Marys, she was a daughter ofÂ the late Charles and Hilda Jesberger Gerber. In 1933, she married Foster Bean who preceded her in death and then, in 1976,Â she married Charles Shall who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shall had been employed at Stackpole Corp. from which she retired in 1965. She was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
James W. Bailey, 78, of 130 Greeves St., Kane, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010 at his residence.
Born June 25, 1932 in Wilkes Barre, he was the son of William G. and Jeanette Morgan Bailey.
Mr. Bailey served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.Â He was a life member of both the VFW #1132, where he was a trustee,Â and the F.O. Eagles Aerie # 307, both in Kane.
Surviving are two sons, William (Jill) Bailey of Vowinkle and Eric (Brandy) of Westminster, Colo.Â Eleven grandchildren also survive.
PrecedingÂ him in death, besides his parents, is a brother, Richard Bailey.
