Under a steady rain the Ridgway Elkers came to town with two things in mind: spoil the senior recognition night for the Kane Wolves and improve their positioning for a potential playoff berth.Â
Prior to the start of the game, these four seniors, Gunnar Emberg, Will Hulings, Josh Kibbie and Mike Swartwood, were honored in an emotional senior recognitionÂ ceremony.
With emotions high the Wolves and the good crowd were ready to get things under way. With the field in very bad condition both teams would find the footing really tough.Â
Michael J. Kennedy, formerly of Kane, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, surrounded by loved ones in his Florida home.
He was born on March 31, 1951, in Sewickley, and was a 1969 graduate of Moon Township High School. Mike attended Clarion University and Ohio Northern University and practiced law before being elected the Mageisterial District Judge in Kane. In 2010, Mike and his wife, Gina,Â retired to Placida, Fla. He was a wonderful husband, adoring father, and loyal friend and family member.Â Mike will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Since October is â€śBreast Cancer Awareness Month,â€ť Kane Community Hospital is busier than ever in administering mammogramsâ€”a potential life-saving medical test for women.
â€śThe mammogram is recognized as the best screening tool for breast cancer,â€ť Julie Laughner said. She is the chief technician for imaging at Kane Community Hospital and is the â€śleadâ€ť mammographer.
