Kane Tornadoes claim Olean Youth Football League Pony Championship

A first-quarter touchdown and a fourth-quarter goal-line stand allowed the Kane Tornadoes to claim the Olean Youth Football League Pony Championship in their first year as a league member.
The championship put the finishing touch on a season in which the Tornadoes had to win their final regular season game to get into the playoffs and then had to overcome the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the South Division to reach the championship game.

County courthouse roof project is postponed

SMETHPORT – The replacement of the roof on the McKean County Courthouse in Smethport has been postponed until spring.
Acting at a meeting Tuesday, the county Board of Commissioners voted 3-0 to reject a lone bid received for the roofing project.
Commissioner Joe DeMott of Port Allegany, the chairman of the board, joined with Commissioners Al Pingie of Bradford Township and Judy Church of Smethport in voting to reject the bid.
Peterson Roofing of Olean, N.Y. earlier this month submitted a bid of $111,400 for the roofing project. It was the only bid received.
