Robert W. Barber, 86, of Mt. Jewett, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 12, 2011, at his residence. 
Mr. Barber was born on July, 5, 1925 in Hazelhurst, the son of Ernest and Nellie Grimm Barber. He attended school in Hazelhurst and is a Methodist by faith.
A veteran of World War II, he was a seaman first class aboard the USS Spica and served in the South Pacific from July 1943 through September 1946.
Mr. Barber is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Gloria Peters whom he married on Nov. 22, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mt. Jewett.
