June 17th
Joyce E. Woods, 78, of 226 Yarnell St., died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 10, 1933, in Kane, she was a daughter of Oliver and Ethel Peterson Hulings. She had been married to Leonard Weatherbee and Elmer Woods who both preceded her in death.
Mrs. Woods had been employed at the Lutheran Home at Kane for over 30 years.
Norma J. Staaf Bertiaux, 81, formerly of Lincoln Street, Kane, died Friday in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Visitation will be held at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m., at which time a service will be held there with Pastor David Pflieger, chaplain of The Lutheran Home at Kane, officiating.

Mrs. Arlene “Mary” Donafrio, 67, passed into the next life at 5 a.m., Friday, June 10, 2011, at Kane Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was born April 30, 1944, in Philadelphia, to the late James and Arlene Engman Markey.
Mary's family moved to the area when she was very young and lived most of her life here. She was a former secretary and treasurer of the Mission Covenant Church, Ludlow and enjoyed gardening and playing cards with her family. Mary was a machine operator at Long Ind. and was a member of the Sheffield Ladies Auxiliary.
Dorothy P. Larson, 91, formerly of 121 W. Main, Mt. Jewett, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Laurie Kapuscinski, in Jamestown, NY.
She was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Mt. Jewett, the daughter of Hartley and Emma Winner Adair. On July 3, 1952, she married Arthur E. Larson in Sheffield, who passed away June 28, 2007.
June 8th
Luella D. Ponick, 88, formerly of Kane, Atlanta, Ga., and Palm Coast, Fla., and a recent resident of the Lutheran Home at Kane, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the Lutheran Home.
Born Nov. 25, 1922, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Harriet Nichols Johnson. On April 10, 1948, she married Lee C. Ponick who preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage.
Mrs. Ponick served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of 2nd Lt.
June 5th
Edward Joseph Kisko, 83, of 15 Beech St., died Friday evening, June 3, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Kane, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Ludlow on Jan. 31, 1928, the son of Anna Baronak Kisko and George Kisko. On June 14, 1969, at St. Callistus Church, he married Laurea Holt, who survives.

Edward J. Kisko, 83, of 15 Beech St. Kane, died Friday evening at the Lutheran Home at Kane. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.

Elaine Beckwith Ryan, 65, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Kane and New York City, died Dec. 5, 2010. Survivors include sons John and Thomas, both of Huntington, N.Y; a brother, Earl of Osprey, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Jake and Kayla Ryan. A memorial service will be held at St. Callistus Church, in Kane on Saturday, June 4 at 10 a.m.
Roger L. Ewing, 55, of 21-41 Main St., Mt. Jewett, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Kane Community Hospital of injuries sustained in a fall.
Born Nov. 19, 1955, in Kane, he was a son of the late Ronald and Jean Magnuson Ewing.
Mr. Ewing was a self-employed carpenter.
Margaret Joan Johnson, 83, formerly of Lincoln Avenue in Ludlow, died early Tuesday morning, May 31, 2011, at The Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born June 8, 1927 in Frewsburg, N.Y., she was the daughter of Bertil L. and Gladys A. Davidson Carlson. On April 29, 1948 in Maryland, she married Clarence S. "Bud" Johnson, who died in 2000.
She was a member of Moriah Lutheran Church in Ludlow. She was a homemaker and later a personal caregiver.
