The Little Dribblers program is a group of young boys in grades 1 through 3.

ST. MARYS – The Kane Varsity Competition Cheerleading team travelled to the Elk County Catholic Cheer Frenzy on Saturday and came home with first in the varsity division as well as the Judges Choice Award for the entire competition.Â
The past week was a very difficult week for the team as they lost a vital member due to an injury. One of the team’s youngest members, an alternate, Dana Swartwood, had to step in and fill the void. The alternates are like the bench in other sports in that they learn the routine and may never get the opportunity to step in, but come to practice every day.Â
I recently received a letter from former Kane High School standout athlete Jim Chavez that I would like to share with you. I believe this really is a great little story for the community to share.
Jim was a 1966 graduate of Kane and has had the great pleasure of being able to talk with Joe Paterno, the former head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team who passed away recently.
