The Kane Wolves and Johnsonburg Rams both entered Friday nightâs game coming off of huge, emotional wins last week but it was the Wolves who pulled away with a 41-0 shutout victory.
Kane head coach Todd Silfiesâ Wolves came out firing on all cylinders as soon as the whistle blew on Friday night while Johnsonburg seemed to come out flat after last weekâs win over arch-rival Ridgway.
Kane's two senior cheerleaders, Tina Moore and Alison Packard, present a check to Sue Coulter, far left, for the Susan G Komen Fund. The money was raised by the cheerleaders in conjunction with their Pink Week. Cancer survivors Matt Boyer, Brenda Emer, Donna Lingenfelter, and Collin Alexis also took part in the presentation.
Pauline F. Coldren, 96, E. Mill St., passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in the Bradford Nursing Pavilion.
Born Dec. 18, 1915, in Petrolia, N.Y., she was a daughter of Carroll M. and Lulu M. Wentworth Richardson. On Jan. 21, 1936, in Limestone, N.Y., she married Carl R. Coldren, who died July 9, 2001. They were married 65 years.
She was a longtime resident of the area and a graduate of the Bradford, High School, Class of â35â.
She was a member of the former Evangelical United Brethren Church of Coryville, Ladies Home Extension, Penn State University, and a former 4H leader.
Frances Elaine Andrews, 88, of New Port Richey, Fla. passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at the Medical Center of Trinity in New Port Richey, Fla.
Born Frances Elaine Bailey in Kane, she graduated from Kane High School and married her high school sweetheart, Robert B. Andrews, in 1942. They raised their family in Warren, before retiring to New Port Richey in 1988.
October 11th
Mt. Jewett Memorial Public Library is having a chicken barbecue dinner on Oct. 21 from noon until 3 p.m. or until sold out. Dinner will be $8.Â
We are also having a Chinese Auction to raffle off several baskets that are being donated by local businesses and/or patrons. Dinner will consist of Chicken, baked potato, baked beans, roll, dessert and a drink. Take out is available and we will deliver in town. All proceeds will benefit the library.
October 10th
PUNXSUTAWNEY â The Kane Lady Wolves traveled the long miles to Punxsutawney to get swept in three games, 25-21, 25-19, 25-22, falling to 8-3 on the season.
âBig Brotherâ will be watching Kane residents who haul brush to the brush dump at the rear of Glenwood Park on Hacker Street (Route 321).

The Kane Wolves boysâ soccer team hosted the St. Marys Dutchmen on Tuesday afternoon in a 6-0 losing effort.
The Wolves played hard, and midway through the first half the game was scoreless, but the visitors scored three goals in 10 minutes to go into halftime with a big lead and went on to win 6-0 to keep Kane winless.

BELLEFONTE â The "Tickle Monster" will be going to prison, most likely for the remainder of his life.
Jerry Sandusky, 68, convicted in June of molesting 10 young boys over a 15-year period, was sentenced Tuesday to spend a minimum of 30 years in prison.Â
Senior Trial Judge John Cleland of Kane handed down the sentence at the Centre County Courthouse in Bellefonte.
One of the victims who spoke in court Tuesday said Sandusky called himself the "Tickle Monster" in an alleged 1998 incident in a shower when the victim was only 11.Â
