December 17th
The Smethport Hubbers used 30 points by Zach Smith to help propel them to a 63-44 win over Kane in the Wolves’ Den on Monday night. Smith, a preseason D9 All-Star, lived up to the billing as the Smethport senior scored on drives to the hoop, on offensive rebounds under the basket and nailed a few threes to complete his second consecutive 30-point night.
Kane Hardwood has a major impact on the local economy.
This point came across loud and clear Monday in a public presentation to the community by Ned Karger, the land manager at Kane Hardwood.

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders rebounded from a Wednesday night loss to Johnsonburg with a resounding 47-32 win over the Kane Lady Wolves. Kane’s only lead of the night came after the game’s first basket. ECC coach Ken Pistner’s squad outscored the home team 13-1 the rest of the first quarter on their way to the victory.
The Elk County Catholic Crusader basketball team picked up their first victory of the season in front of a home crowd on Friday night as they defeated the Kane Wolves 66-48 at the ECCHS gymnasium.
The Crusaders led 16-11 at the end of the first quarter, 32-23 at the half, and 48-31 at the end of the third quarter.
The Kane Elementary School held their annual Christmas program on Friday afternoon. Kindergarden students in the Kane Area School District entertained a large crowd with a variety of holiday numbers. Members of the Kane Class of 2025 are pictured as they performed Christmas carols.

Test scores under the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) are used to determine whether a school district is making "Annual Yearly Progress (AYP)."
December 12th
The Kane Wolves’ boys basketball team opened the regular season on Wednesday night in the Wolves’ Den against the Sheffield Wolverines. Coach Brian Wymer’s Wolves were dialing long distance all night, as they converted nine three-point baskets to help them on their way to a 63-50 win.
These are the prize-winners in the High School Talent Show held Wednesday at the school auditorium.
