BROOKVILLE — Convicted murderer Steven P. Rebert, who found guilty of two counts of criminal homicide following his jury trial in January, has filed post-trial motions for acquittal or a new trial.
On Jan. 24, the jury found Rebert, formerly of Emporium, guilty of double homicide in the shooting deaths of Victoria Lynn and Wayne Shugar, both 61, whose bodies were found April 12, 2010, in their Coal Tipple Road home, Brockway.
Preparation of a proposed budget for the Kane Area School District is linked with a state spending plan released this week by Gov. Tom Corbett.
Steve Perry, business manager for the school district, said Thursday that he is “gathering information” for the next Kane school budget.
He said he will be scrutinizing the proposed state budget to determine how the draft will affect the Kane spending plan.
“It’s a very challenging process,” Perry said in his report to the Kane School Board at its meeting Thursday.
