Virginia "Jane" Hedlund, 92, of 147 Gates Hollow, Bradford, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012 at The Pavilion at BRMC.
Born Oct. 9, 1919, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late George and Oda Mae (Anchors) Wingard.
On Aug. 17, 1943 in Allegany, she married Perry F. Hedlund, Jr. who died on Oct. 21, 2006.
She was a 1936 graduate of Kane High School.
She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Evangelical Church.
She had been employed at Corning Glass Company for over 29 1/2 years.
More than 35 attended the 14th annual Women In Timber Luncheon held Monday at the Colonial Inn restaurant on Fraley Street in Kane.
The event is sponsored by the Kane-based Allegheny Hardwood Utilization Group(AHUG) for women involved in the timber industry.
Featured speakers for the luncheon included Jill Thompson of Kane, the local legislative representative for State Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Warren, and Fritz Buehler Lecker of St. Marys, a legislative representative for State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-DuBois).
A 14-year-old Kane boy is facing charges in connection with a stabbing that caused injuries to a Kane man and the alleged assailant.
The boy has been charged with aggravated assault and "other charges," Kane Borough Police Chief Brian Hillard said Monday.
Kane Police Officer Bill Nichols responded to the stabbing at 1:16 a.m. March 18 at 335 Bayard St., Apt. 1.
Police said Brian Kopp of the 300 block of Welsh St., Kane, had been stabbed in the left hip area by a "large kitchen knife." Police said the man was visiting the residence as a "friend" of the boy's mother.
