The surprise snowstorm Monday and today is bringing significant snowfall to the Kane area on the latest April date in 84 years.
âItâs rare,â meteorologist Aaron Tyburski said Monday in describing the storm that is expected to dump more than six inches of heavy wet snow before it tapers off today.
Tyburski, who is based at the National Weather Service office in State College, said records indicate that the âmajorâ storm is bringing significant snowfall to the area on the latest April date since 1928. A storm that year with significant snowfall hit the area April 27-28, he said.
Elizabeth ""Bette"" Freer, 85, of Eldred, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 23, 1926, in Olean, N.Y., she was a daughter of Reginald and Irene Brandel Carey.
Betty was a 1943 graduate of Eldred high School and later graduated from Westbrook Academy in Olean. She was a lifetime resident of Eldred.
