Outstanding day for Middle School Track and Field

JOHNSONBURG – The Kane Middle School Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams competed at the 25th Annual Johnsonburg Junior High Invitational on Saturday.

Leonard W. Slocum, 88, formerly of Mt. Jewett, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born July 8, 1923, in Lynch, he was a son of the late Walter and Olive Crain Slocum.
Mr. Slocum had been employed as an oil field worker for Pennzoil.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army, 291st Infantry Regiment, 75th Division, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He grew up in Wolf Run then resided in Gifford for over 40 years. For the last 15 years, before entering the Lutheran Home, he lived in Mt. Jewett.
