Shirley (Ross) Gerg, 84, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of 121 Parkway Road, St. Marys, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor after a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 29, 1927 in Hicks Run, daughter of the late Patrick and Mildred Ford Ross.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1946. She served as the Cafeteria Manager at the Elk County Catholic High School from 1975 to 2001 and had been a co-owner of the Olympic Bar and Restaurant in St. Marys.
The 2012 (PSFCA) will hold the East/West All Star Game Sunday, May 6. The game will be held at Gateway High School in Monroeville. Scheduled kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.Â
Over 220 Special Olympics athletes from throughout McKean County met at Kane Area High School on Wed., May 2, to compete in the 37th annual Special Olympics/Zippo Track & Field Meet.
Seven athletes, whose names will be released soon, qualified to represent McKean County at the Pennsylvania Special Olympics State Games at Penn State, June 7-9.

EAST DEER – Two wheels fell off a school bus with 25 Elk County children on board along state Route 28 on Thursday morning, but neither they nor the bus driver were injured, state police said.
The driver, Walter Mehalko, 63, of Wilcox, was able to pull the crippled bus over to the side of the road between the Creighton (Exit 13) and Pittsburgh Mills (12A) exits at about 9 a.m.
The bus was one of two from the Johnsonburg Area School District heading to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh.
