Grand opening is set at Mt. Jewett Medical Park

MT. JEWETT – A grand-opening celebration is scheduled Thursday at the new UPMC Hamot Medical Park in Mt. Jewett.
The medical facility is a service of Kane Community Hospital, which is affiliated with UPMC Hamot.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 4:45 p.m. Thursday at the new building at 18 W. Main St. near the Mt. Jewett Post Office.
The grand-opening event, which is open to the public, runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. Those attending the grand-opening will qualify for prizes.

Fred A. Marconi, 92, of 2904 N.W. 61st Ave., Margate, Fla., formerly of Kane, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012 at the Cedars Sinai Hospital, in Los Angeles.
Born Jan. 6, 1920, in Cuba, N.Y., he was a son of the late and Enrico "Henry" and Anita (Inamorita) Marconi.
On Sept. 18, 1941, in St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church, he married Hazel B. (Woods) Marconi, who survives.
He was a 1938 graduate of James City High School.
On Oct. 20, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Army and served during WWII; he was honorably discharged on Sept. 29, 1943.
