Boy Scouts make it through life changing trek

July 16, 2012

Recently a group of local Boy Scouts and their advisors embarked on a life changing summer trek through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Philmont covers 214 square miles of vast wilderness with trails that climb from 6,500 ft to 12,441 ft. During their trek the Scouts and their advisors hiked 100 miles over 12 days. The group endured 100 degree temperatures and steep climbs during their trek. On day 6 they climbed to the top of Baldy Mountain which stands 12, 441 feet above sea level.
