The new Family Dollar store on North Fraley Street in Kane is now open for business.
The store, which carries a wide variety of merchandise and groceries, is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The store is open Sundays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The official grand-opening ceremony will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday.
Family Dollar is planning several special events Saturday in conjunction with the grand opening of the store.
Each of the first 50 customers Saturday will receive a $5 Family Dollar gift card. Shoppers who spend at least $25 will receive a $5 discount.
Teresa G. Zampogna, 86, of Erie and formerly of Kane, died Wednesday morning July 18, 2012 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.
A resident of Erie most of her life she was born in Westline on Nov. 3, 1925 a daughter of the late Guiseppie and Theresa Costerolla Zampogna.
Nancy L. Farr, 74, of 160 East Ave., Johnsonburg, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Kane following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 14, 1938 in Ludlow, daughter of the late Anthony (Tony) and Fannie Visco Raymondo. She married George J. Farr on March 2, 1957; he survives.
She resided in the community for 55 years. She graduated from Kane High School in 1956. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, and loved homemaking and family life.
