The Kane Borough Council voted 6-0 Monday to award a street-paving contract to IA Construction of Franklin.
The company submitted the low bid of $99,163.41.
Other bidders included Glenn O. Hawbaker of Turtlepoint, $108,071; and Jefferson Paving of Brookville, $121,238.48.
Council President Howard Kane joined with Councilwoman Janet Bard and Councilmen John Gentilman, Harold Hallberg, Dennis Drost and Bill Tunall to approve the low bid.
Councilwoman Holly Harris did not attend the meeting, which this month was moved from the second Monday to the first Monday at the borough building.
MT. JEWETT â€“ Without more funding, the Mt. Jewett Memorial Public Library could be forced to close its doors in two years.
This was the somber message delivered Monday to the Mt. Jewett Borough Council at its meeting at the borough building on Center Street.
"The library is not going to close tomorrow," Library Director Debbie Deane told council. But she said the library could be forced to close in "two years" if additional funding is not found to cover expenses.
