The Kane Wolves boysâ€™ soccer team again played a solid half but couldnâ€™t string together 80 minutes of soccer in Tuesday afternoonâ€™s game against Ridgway.
Like last weekâ€™s home game against Smethport, the Wolves were right in the game at intermission, but a flurry of goals by their opposition early in the second half put the home team in a big hole.
SMETHPORT â€“ A man has been sentenced to life in state prison for killing a mother and her baby in Bradford in 2010.
Waide Eugene Nolf, 40, of Bradford received the sentence Tuesday when he appeared in McKean County Court before Senior Judge William Morgan of Warren.
The case had been scheduled to go trial with jury selection set to begin Tuesday in county court. However, Nolf entered a plea Monday during a pre-trial conference at the county courthouse, a court spokesman said.
SMETHPORT â€“ The county Childrenâ€™s Advocacy Center (CAC) is playing a vital role in the sensitive job ofÂ dealing with children who are victims of abuse.
In a presentation Tuesday before the McKean County Board of Commissioners, Mikele Bay said the CAC conducts â€śjoint forensic interviewsâ€ť with victims to reduce the trauma facing abused children.
Bay, who resides in Hamlin Township, is a forensic interviewer for the CAC along with Mindi Brown.
According to Bay, child abuse victims previously had to undergo as many as 15 different interviews to explain what happened to them.
Stanley "Beck" Debevec was born on Dec. 4, 1924 and on April 18, 2012 was led to heaven by his angel at the age of 87.Â
Beck was born in James City. He and his wife, Rose, owned and operated Beck's Cafe (now James City Cafe) for many years.
Graveside services with military honor guard will be held at St. Callistus Cemetery on Sept. 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life following at the Highland Township Fire Department in James City.
