The Kane Lady Wolves defeated the Ridgway Lady Elkers in four games on Tuesday in the Wolvesâ Den.
Kane won easily in game one by a score of 25-12. Game two was a much closer affair, as the home team rallied for the 25-20 win. The visitors took game three as Kane struggled with their passing and communicating. Kane head coach Judy Kesslerâs team then regrouped to take a marathon game four by a score of 30-28, winning the match.
The St. Marys Area Dutch soccer team added another win to their season record on Tuesday afternoon, shutting out the Kane Wolves 4-0 at the SMAHS soccer field.
"I'm happy for the kids. We were able to score four goals, which was tied with our season high so far," said St. Marys Area coach Russ Micale. "They played a good, solid game the whole time. I'm proud of them."
All three Wetmore Township supervisors will share the responsibility of directing the two-man road crew.
This decision was made Tuesday by a 2-1 vote of the supervisors at a 59-minute meeting at the township building on Spring Creek in East Kane.
Supervisors Bill Ryding and Elaine Bodisow agreed that âall threeâ members of the township board will direct the road crew. Supervisor Steve Dyne, who resigned Aug. 7 as the volunteer road superintendent, cast the lone negative vote.
Mrs. Alverta A. "Pete" Castor, 86, passed into the next life at 6 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 in Kane Community Hospital following an extended
illness.
She was born Oct. 12, 1925 in Accident, Md. to the late Harry and Ida Holliday Wilhelm.
An area resident for the past 50 years, "Pete" retired from Sylvania after 30 years service. She was a workaholic and kept an immaculate home and
enjoyed going to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and playing bingo.
She is survived by three daughters, Noreen Griffith and husband Dan, Sheffield, Anita Frederoski, Sheffield, and Loretta Davidson and husband
