November 4th
MT. JEWETT – The Mt. Jewett Rotary Club presented prizes Saturday at its annual Halloween Costume Contest at the Mt. Jewett Fire Hall.
The contest followed the traditional Halloween parade on Main Street (Route 6) from the Hamlin Bank parking lot to the exit driveway for the fire hall.
Donald E. Whitmore, 83, of Grandview Estates in Kane, passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Feb. 3, 1929, in Randolph, Vt., he was a son of Oscar and Flava Gordon Whitmore. On Jan. 13, 1951, in Bethel, Vt., he married Barbara Upton who survives.
Mr. Whitmore served in the U.S. Army.
He had been employed as a mill supervisor at Otter Creek but due to a serious accident at work had to retire in 1981.

Anthony Thomas Vito, 91, of Levittown, passed away Sept. 28 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Langhorne. Â
He attended Kane High School, graduating in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and after basic training was assigned to the Third Infantry Division. He participated in invasions in Africa, Sicily, Italy and Southern France. Anthony received the Bronze Star Medal and two Purple Hearts as well as Laurels from the French Government. During a brief visit to Rome he was granted an audience with the Pope.
Richard H. "Dick" Farnsworth, 71, of 811 Washington St., St. Marys, died at his home on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 following a battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 20, 1941 in New Millport, a son of the late Russell and Bertha Chittister Farnsworth.
On Feb. 4, 1967 in St. Mary's Church, he married Joan Hoffman Farnsworth, who survives.
Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having been discharged in January of 1968. He made his career working at St. Marys Carbon and Stackpole Carbon Company. He also spent time as a truck driver and working at the All American Car Wash.

Nine games later, the Wolves are 6-3 and in the District 9 Class AA playoffs. Kane will be either the second or third seed, but will play the Brookville Raiders regardless of seeding, at a place to be determined.

Dressed in Western outfits that included cowboy hats, more than 50 participated Friday in the Church Women United program.

FOXBURG – The Kane Lady Wolves lost to the A-C Valley Lady Falcons on Thursday night in the second round of the District 9 Class A playoffs.
