Joseph "Cook" Kasaback, 83, of 4 North Hillside Ave., Ludlow, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born July, 1929, in Warren, he was a son of the late Anthony and Helen Antal Kasaback. On March 14, 1952, in Clarendon, he married Joyce Nystrom who survives.
Mr. Kasaback was employed for 40 years by Penelec as a chief hot stick lineman and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Jamestown SeeBees. He also played for Navy in the Army-Navy Orange Bowl Game.
PIGEON – A Highland Township volunteer firefighter was injured Wednesday morning while responding to a 14-vehicle traffic accident on icy Route 66, six miles south of Russell City.
JAMES CITY – Highland Township now has an ordinance that bans deposits from the drilling of Marcellus Shale natural gas wells.
