Hearing for Kane police chief is postponed

BRADFORD – A preliminary hearing for suspended Kane police chief Brian Hillard will not take place today as scheduled.
A spokesman for Bradford District Court Judge Dominic Cercone Jr. said Tuesday that the hearing has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 9 a.m.

‘Stranger Danger’ program set at school

A “Stranger Danger Awareness” program will be held at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 in the Kane Middle School auditorium.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will attend the presentation.

Bloodmobile stop in Kane exceeds goal

The goal set for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile stop on Monday in Kane was to collect 32 full units of blood.

Robert E. Allshouse

October 9, 2013

Robert E. Allshouse, 64, of 1519 Rte 66 and 948, Russell City, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at Kane Community Hospital.
Born Dec. 12, 1948, in Warren, he was a son of the late Theodore and Lulu Vandervoort Allshouse. On May 6, 1971, in Kane, he married Sally Haight who survives.
Mr. Allshouse, who was a 15-year cancer survivor, served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He had been employed as a monitor at CD Electrodes in St. Marys.

County OKs funding change for Kane park work

SMETHPORT – A change in a budget for federal funding is expected to help the borough of Kane complete renovations at Evergreen Park.

Lady Wolves look sharp in win over Brockway

The Lady Wolves played 80 solid minutes of soccer on Monday on their way to posting an impressive 2-1 victory over the visiting Brockway Lady Rovers. The Kane offense dominated the action early, controlling the ball for most of the early going.

Walter J. Nalducci Jr.

Walter J. Nalducci Jr., 74, of 510 Janeway St., died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at his residence.
Born Dec. 2, 1938, in Bayonne, N.J., he was a son of the late Walter and Florence Bevilacqua Nalducci. On Sept. 8, 1962, at St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane, he married Anne Varisano who survives.
Mr. Nalducci served in the U.S. Air Force and saw duty stateside and in Guam. He attended St. Peter's College in Jersey City, N.J. and retired as the postmaster of the Kane Post Office.

Crusaders fall to Wolves 35-7 in homecoming contest

The Elk County Catholic Crusader football team had their homecoming game on Saturday afternoon at Dutch Country Stadium, losing 35-7 to the Kane Wolves to fall to 0-6 on the season.
"We had some things going there. We made some mistakes," said ECC head coach Tony Gerg. "I wish we could have had a better showing for homecoming."

Domtar offers tour as part of Manufacturing Day event

JOHNSONBURG – Friday morning, area residents were invited to a tour of the J5 paper machine at Domtar in Johnsonburg. The tour was offered as part of Domtar Manufacturing Day, during which mill officials offer a closer look at their production process and history.
