Wolves season comes to an end against Gremlins

CLARION – The 2013 Kane Wolves’ season came to an abrupt halt on Friday night at Clarion University. For the second straight season, the Karns City Gremlins defeated the Wolves in the District 9 AA Championship game, this time by a 49-21 score.
The Wolves had not lost a game since last Nov. 16 when the Gremlins scored in the final seconds of last year’s title contest to take the crown. Kane had reeled off 11 straight wins to begin the season, becoming only the third undefeated team in Wolves’ history.

Lantz Corners sewer project is 30 percent complete

HAZEL HURST – Installation of sewer lines is well underway for the long-awaited Lantz Corners sewer district in the western end of Hamlin Township.
In a report to the township Board of Supervisors earlier this week, project engineer Dan Slagle said work on the sewage collection system is about 30 percent complete.

Stephanic proceeds to trial in shooting death of girlfriend

Following a Friday morning preliminary hearing Michael J. Stephanic Jr., 44, of St. Marys, will be held over for trial on charges he allegedly shot and killed June Talmadge, 48, during a Sept. 3 incident in the parking lot of Eastern Sintered Alloys.

Lane named as new PACD board member

SMETHPORT – Commissioner Cliff Lane of Turtlepoint, McKean County, recently added the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts (PACD) to his resume. Lane joined the group as the Northwest Region Director of the statewide association earlier this month.

Kay L. Lindquist, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West.
She was born in Kane on Oct. 18, 1935, the daughter of the late George K. and Pearl L. Thompson Lamper.
She attended school in Jamestown and was a licensed beautician.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Glenn E. Lamper, Clinton C. Lamper, Claire Lamper, Ernest Lamper and George D. Lamper; and three sisters, Marie Arnold, Lucille Morris and Faye Ingersoll.
