November 8, 2013

QUEHANNA – Standing in the parking lot at the Pennsylvania Game Commission's elk check station in Quehanna on Monday afternoon, the words on Muncy resident Jeff Trought's Duck Dynasty-themed T-shirt perfectly described how he was feeling: "Happy, happy, happy."

Luck results in first-time applicant being drawn for bull tag

November 7, 2013

QUEHANNA – The 86 individuals drawn for elk licenses in this year's drawing represented only a small fraction of the 22,331 hunters who applied. Additionally, many of those individuals had been applying for years and had accrued a number of preference points, resulting in 116,734 entries being in this year's drawing.
Given those numbers the odds of a first-time applicant being selected, much less for one of the 26 available bull tags, seemed to be slim, but that is exactly what happened for Catawissa resident William Gifford.
