The Kane Lady Wolves defeated DuBois Central Catholic 49-39 on DCCâ€™s home court Friday night in an Allegheny Mountain League [AML] semifinal game. The Lady Wolves played good team defense and had a big night from Audrey Perry helping them advance to tonightâ€™s AML championship game.
The Kane seventh and eighth grade boysâ€™ basketball team recently finished their season. The teams worked hard throughout the season and were involved in many close games.
There is major water damage inside the historic General Thomas Kane Memorial Chapel at 30 Chestnut St. in the borough.
Vandals are blamed for turning off gas heat to the building. The lack of heat caused heating system water lines to freeze and rupture.
Lois E. Eckstrom, 69, of 319 Haines St., passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born May 17, 1943, in Port Allegany, she was a daughter ofÂ the late James and Mary Peno Dunbar.
Mrs. Eckstrom was an elementary school teacher in the Kane Area School District.Â Most of her teaching years were in Kane but she also taught in Mt. Jewett for a few years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kane.
Much of Mrs. Eckstrom's time was spent doing volunteer work, especiallyÂ at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she also served on the board.
