Delong advances to state championship match

HERSHEY – Kane's Evan Delong advanced to this afternoon's PIAA finals with a 7-6 win over Tri Valley's Ty Schoffstall in the state semifinals. Delong won his quarterfinal match in the 160-pound weight class against Benton's Jeric Kasunic on Friday morning in Hershey to assure himself of bringing home a state medal.

Kane Lady Wolves end season with state playoff loss

WEXFORD – “We were just outclassed.”
That’s how Kane coach Dave Kiehl described Friday’s 67-16 loss to Seton-LaSalle in a Class AA state girls basketball playoff game here at North Allegheny High School.
Seton-LaSalle, the defending Class AA state champion, dominated with a smothering full-court zone press for three quarters. Kane had major trouble bringing the ball upcourt against the press. The Rebels converted a flurry of steals into easy layups.

Reminder to turn clocks forward

Kane kindergarten students Addy Johnson, 5, and Rhys Hushon, 6, remind area residents to turn their clocks FORWARD ONE HOUR when they go to bed tonight. Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. Sunday and continues until Nov. 3 when clocks are turned back one hour.

Beloved husband of Claire (nee Dzialdowski) Brooder; devoted father of Douglas, Kevin (Angela) and Anthony (Angelique) Brooder; cherished grandfather of Matthew and Timothy; loving son of the late Clinton and Frances Brooder; also survived by relatives and friends. Relatives and friends may visit the Lombardo Funeral Home, (Northtowns Chapel), 885 Niagara Falls Blvd. near Eggert/Sheridan Dr. on Monday from 5-8 p.m.. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Amelia’s Church, 2999 Eggert Rd., Tonawanda on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
