Richard "Rick" A. Walter, 71, of 130 Greeves St., died Tuesda, July 23, 2013 at Sena-Kean Manor where he was a recent resident.
Born July 26, 1941, in Kane, he was a son of the late John and Dina Caruso Walter.
Rick was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and belonged to the Kane BPOE #329 and the Kane Country Club. He was an avid golfer and an ardent supporter of Kane Area High School sports.
Before his retirement, he was employed by Stackpole in Kane.
BERWICK â€“Â With two outs in the top of the seventh inning it looked like Plains had the 2013 Senior Division Softball State Championship wrapped up and was going to edge St. Marys 3-2.
BERWICK â€“Â The St. Marys Little League Softball senior league all stars earned the first state title in St. Marys Little League Softball history with a 4-3 come from behind victory over Plains on Monday afternoon at Ber-Vaughn Park in Berwick, capping an exciting week of softball action for the St. Marys team.
LANTZ CORNERS â€“ The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66 formed a picket line out front of Cleveland Brotherâ€™s Lantz Corners location on Monday morning. The union, representing 275 heavy equipment machinists at eight different locations throughout Western Pennsylvania, said through union spokesperson Josh Bloom that the workers are â€śstriking based upon alleged unfair labor practices by Cleveland Brothers.â€ť
Chester E. Slaugenhaupt, 70, a resident of Sena-Kean Manor and formerly of Mt. Jewett, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at UPMC Bradford.
Born Sept. 14, 1942, in Eldred, he was a son of the late Charles and Mildred Pelham Slaugenhaupt.Â On July 17, 1971, in Mt. Jewett, he married Sylvia Roberts who survives.
Mr. Slaugenhaupt worked as a truck driver and also as a driver for Burdick's Garbage Disposal.
He was a member of the Hazel Hurst United Methodist Church, the Hamlin Township Fire Department and the Mt. Jewett Senior Center.
John H. McNeil, 68, of 423 Moffit Ave., passed away Sunday, July 21, 2013, at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh.
Born April 28, 1945, in Southampton, N.Y., he was a son ofÂ the late Cleon and Marcia Milgate McNeil.Â He was married to Clara Jean Brandes McNeil who survives.
Mr. McNeil was a retired employee of Pasco County in Florida
HeÂ was a member of the Kane Revival Center and the Kane Senior Center.
Surviving, in addition to his wife,Â are a daughter, Tracy McNeil of Philadelphia; a brother, Richard McNeil of Portville, N.Y.; and a sister, Kathryn McNeil of Eastport, Long Island, N.Y.
