Mrs. Jody Rea Paup Hogan, 47, of Meherrin, Va. died Saturday July 20, 2013.
Jody was born Aug. 18, 1965 in Kane, daughter of Thora (Lynne) and James (Jim) Paup.
Jody was a 1987 graduate of Longwood College with a Bachelorâ€™s degree in Biology. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Jody worked at Southside Community Hospital for many years before pursuing a career in teaching. She was a teacher at Prince Edward County Middle School, Fuqua, Nottaway and most recently, Lunenburg County High School.
Patricia A. Allegretto, 71, died Friday, July 12, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Newton, Kan.
Born Sept. 28, 1942, in Roscoe, N.Y., she was a daughter of Hirman and Mary A. Hannold VanGuilder.
Patricia had lived in the Kane area for over 40 years. She had operated the Clarion Kitchen in Wilcox and the Sheffield Diner in Sheffield.
The St. Marys Little League Softball senior league all stars defeated Plains 4-3 Monday afternoon to win the state championship at Ber-Vaughn Park in Berwick.
The Kane Fish and Game Club hosted a Women's Pistol Class on Saturday. Lynn Buhl of Kane is shown taking aim at a target after completing the classroom portion of the class. Sixteen women took part in the event.

During a hot weekend in Virginia Beach, the Studio K Elite Competition Team set the stage on fire with their talent. Bringing home 11 trophies, including eight first-place wins, the Studio K Elites represented McKean and Elk County with pride. Team members range in age from 10 through 18 and come from Kane, St. Marys and Wilcox.
Chester Slaugenhaupt, 70, died Sunday morning at the Bradford Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc.

Christine M. Dunlap, 53 of Paisley, Fla. died Monday, July 1, 2013 after a lengthy illness at the Florida Hospital of DeLand.
Born Oct. 24, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Earl L. Kepler Sr. and Beverly Frost Kepler. On Aug. 12, 1995, she married Joseph Dunlap, who survives.
Christine was an avid animal lover and spent many years grooming dogs and cats at Christieâ€™s Pampered Pooch in Kane.
Frances L. Olewinski, 83 of 724 Marvin St., Wilcox, formerly of Johnsonburg died Thursday, July 18, 2013 afternoon at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born on March 30, 1930 in Johnsonburg, daughter of the late Bronislaw and Josephine Kolinoski Piurkoksi.
She married Henry A. Olewsinski on August 15, 1950 in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg. He died October 17, 2008.
She resided in Wilcox most of her life.
Mrs. Olewinski was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School in 1948.
