SMETHPORT â A tabulation by the director of the McKean County Board of Elections appears to verify the election of three write-in candidates to the Kane School Board.
William Timothy Gentry, 53 formerly of Sheffield, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 in the Warren Manor.
Mr. Gentry was born Oct. 7, 1960 in Warren, a son of Walter William and Alice B. McCarter Gentry.
Mr. Gentry had lived in Maryland for many years prior to returning to the area and had worked in the construction industry.
He was a member of the Sheffield United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Kathleen A. Carley, Ludlow; a brother, Daniel F. Gentry, Warren; a niece, a nephew and several great nieces and nephews along with a dear friend and caregiver, Dawn.
HAZEL HURST â There's no increase in the proposed 2014 budget for Hamlin Township.
Supervisors Don Compton, Guy Raught and Joni Britton voted Monday for a tentative budget that calls for $304,162.70 in expenditures.

Jean Foote Swanson, 98, formerly of 232 Dawson St., died Friday Nov. 8, 2013 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Born Jan. 20, 1915 in Syracuse, N.Y., she was a daughter of Julius and Mabelle Foote Eller.Â On May 27, 1940 in Syracuse, N.Y., she married Wallace Eugene (Gene) Swanson who died Dec. 9, 2009.
Mrs. Swanson graduated from high school in Syracuse and Syracuse University.Â She was a dietitian for the Kane Community Hospital for 37 years and had been a consultant for the former Ridgway Hospital, retiring in 1976.
I often talk about Blue Jays and how I like them. There are many people that canât stand Blue Jays and I can understand that. They are big, loud, and can be rather intimidating. I still think that they are a beautiful bird with a bad rap, and deserve another look. Although I like the Jays, they often show up at my feeder when Iâm trying to photograph my ârealâ favorite bird, the Cardinal.

Dennis D. Rockwell, 66 of 73 Glassworks Rd., formerly of Sheffield, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 at the Kane Community Hospital. Â Â Â
Born July 13, 1947 in Kane he was a son of Harold and Dorothy Avery Rockwell.Â On March 11, 2006 in Kane he married Esther E. Sacherich who survives.
Mr. Rockwell was a member of the Sheffield VFW and Kane Eagles, Aerie #307. Served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He had been a truck driver and was a laborer for Bob Cummins Construction Company in Bradford.
