Kinzua Bridge State Park

Kinzua Bridge State Park announces the opening of its new picture viewing platform. This is a new addition to the park that will allow visitors to go underneath the bridge near the southern abutment. It is an area that many visitors have asked for access to take pictures of themselves or loved ones with the bridge towers in the background.

Kane driver in 6-fatality wreck is arraigned

A Kane woman charged with manslaughter as a drug-influenced driver in a horrific six-fatality traffic accident Aug. 31 was arraigned Tuesday.

Lady Wolves’ season ends in loss to North Clarion

The young Kane volleyball team saw their season come to a halt on Tuesday night after a loss to North Clarion in the first round of the District 9 A playoffs. Kane coach Judy Kessler’s Lady Wolves entered the season with only two seniors, setter Katelyn Moran and middle hitter Morgan Nicholson. The two led their teammates, including six freshmen that saw significant varsity playing time, to a 9-7 regular season record and a playoff berth.

Youth pheasant hunt

James J. Marconi

James J. Marconi, 85, formerly of Hemlock Avenue in Kane, died early Monday morning, Oct. 28, 2013 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he was a resident.
Born Feb. 7, 1928 in James City, he was the son of Enrico “Henry” and Anita Loveless Marconi. On May 27, 1950 in Kane, he married Rosella F. “Rosie” Fiscus, who died May 12, 2012.

Rachel Rose McKenna

Rachel Rose McKenna, 81, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly from Kane, died Sept. 20, 2013 in Summerlin Hospital, Las Vegas.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1931 the daughter of the late George and Mary Frasina Raymond.
On Aug. 25, 1964, she married Edward McKenna who preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2003.
She was a graduate of Kane Area High School. She worked for Stackpole, Nationwide Insurance and Deitches Clothing. She was a member of St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church.

Kane Community Hospital is busy with mammograms

It’s been a busy month for mammograms at Kane Community Hospital.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this reminds many Kane area women to schedule their annual mammogram.

First Friday at The Depot with Rocky Holland and "Coyote Moon"

Every Fall the Depot in Kane hosts an evening reception on the first Friday of the month.
On Friday, Nov. 1 from 6-8 p.m., wildlife photographer Rocky Holland will be the featured artist and the ‘Coyote Moon’ duo of Denise Drummond and George Stephan will provide music for the evening.

Wreck on Fraley Street

Fraley Street was congested for the better part of an hour on Monday morning due to a traffic accident. A Verizon van and an out-of-state automobile were involved in a minor crash near the intersection of Field Street.

James J. Marconi, 85, formerly of Hemlock Avenue in Kane, died early Monday morning, Oct. 28, 2013 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he was a resident.
Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. in Kane on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Callistus Catholic Church in Kane.
