Shirley Mae Bradybaugh Chittester, 83, of 1152 Lime Rd., Townsend, Ga. passed away on April 25, 2013.
She was born in Kane on Aug. 1, 1929, daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Quick) Bradybaugh. In February of 1950 she married Donald E. Chittester who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Chittester had worked at the Shirt Factory and Houston Electronics and was the manager of the Arlington Hotel in Kane.
May 2nd
The Kane Wolves won their second straight game on Thursday night, avenging an early season loss to the Curwensville Golden Tide. The Wolves jumped out to a 3-0 lead on their way to the 9-5 victory over the Tide.
The Curwensville Golden Tide avenged an earlier season loss to the Kane Lady Wolves by defeating them 11-0 on Kane’s home field on Thursday. The Lady Wolves continued to struggle at the plate, registering only two hits against the Tide’s Taylor Shope.
A crowd estimated at more than 75 attended a "Meet the Candidates" forum Thursday evening at the Kane Area Community Center.
A total of 22 candidates in the May 21 primary election spoke at the 90-minute program.Â

The Elk County Catholic Crusaders jumped out to an 8-0 lead after three innings and went on to post an 11-0 win over the Kane Lady Wolves on Wednesday at Kane’s Szymanski Field.
The Kane Wolves baseball team waited more than a month to play their first game at Pat Santilli field. The Wolves gave the home fans something to smile about, winning their first game of the year, defeating the Brockway Rovers by a score of 14-13 in eight innings.
On Thursday, April 25, during KCH's annual volunteer luncheon, Richard "Dick" Coleman was recognized for his exceptional service and run of more than 10,000 volunteer hours over two decades. He served primarily as escort and courier but performed many roles throughout his years of service.
Doris E. Swanson, 89, formerly of the JoJo Road, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Lutheran Home at Kane where she resided.
Born February 10, 1924, at Lantz Corners, she was a daughter of Martin and Mary Gustafson Wahlberg. On March 6, 1947, in Kane, she married Eugene L. Swanson who preceded her in death.
A graduate of the Kane High School class of 1941, Mrs. Swanson worked for the Selective Services (Draft Board) during World War II. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the former Bentz Furniture for 25 years and had later been employed at the former Kane True Value.
David E. Fox, 70, of 42 Water Street in Ludlow, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Hospice of Citrus County, Lecanto, Fla.
Born April 9, 1943 in Red Springs, W.Va., he was the son of David and Delpha Hughart Fox. On November 23, 1963 in Alexandria, Va., he married Linda VanSteenberg, who survives.
Mr. Fox worked in corrosion protection for National Fuel Gas for thirty-four years, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of Kane Lodge #566 F&AM, the Coudersport Consistory and the Kane Fish and Game Club.
April 30th
No illicit drugs were found Tuesday in a surprise search in the area of student lockers at Kane Area High School.
