Kane boys earn D9 AA crown for consecutive year

The Kane High School boys track and field team came away with the District IX Class AA Championship for the second consecutive year, with some outstanding performances by the Kane boys. Because of their efforts, Kane will be advancing six boys on to the state championship meet to be held this Friday and Saturday at Shippensburg University. 

Girls track team earns second-place finish

The Kane girls’ track and field team finished second in Friday’s District IX AA Championship meet with 73 points, behind Brookville who took the team title with 98 points.

Harold M. Anderson

Harold M. Anderson, 78, of 6792 Route 321 in East Kane, died Friday morning, May 17, 2013 at his residence following a recent illness.
Born Feb. 15, 1935 in Sergeant, he was the son of Arthur and Mabel Lee Anderson. On Dec. 29, 1966 in Kane, he married Kathylene "Kathy" Mosier, who survives.
Mr. Anderson served in the National Guard and then in the U.S. Navy from 1958 until 1963, when he was transferred to the Navy Reserves. Later, he worked at the Cera-Mag division of Stackpole in Kane for over 38 years, retiring in 1997.

Marguerite Trubic

Marguerite Trubic, 87, of 114 Surf  Dr., Butler, and formerly of Kane, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2013 at Sunny View Nursing Home in Butler.
Born April 5, 1926, in Kane, she was a daughter of  the late Leo and Marguerite McKenna.
Mrs. Trubic resided in Kane for most of her life, living on Biddle Street. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at Westinghouse.
She was a member of  St. Callistus Catholic Church and belonged to the CD of A Court Callistus #66.

District IX AA Track and Field Championship to be held in Kane today

Kane’s Paul R Miller stadium will host some of the top track and field athletes in Pennsylvania this afternoon at the District IX AA Track and Field Championship meet. Field events will begin at 3 p.m., with track events scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Kane Area High School students will be dismissed early.

Fishing derbies to be held at Wildcat Park this weekend

LUDLOW – Ludlow’s beautiful Wildcat Park will host two fishing derbies this weekend. The first, to be held on Saturday, is a private event sponsored by the Kinzua Fish and Wildlife Association. The second, which is open to the public, will be held on Sunday and is being organized by the Ludlow Community Association, who runs the park.

Crusaders take twinbill from Wolves

The Elk County Catholic Crusaders took the trip to Kane’s Pat Santilli Field on Wednesday to makeup a couple games that were postponed earlier in the season. The visitors used complete games from their starting pitchers and a grand slam in each of the games to win big over the Wolves in Kane’s finals games of the season.
