'Blob' of arctic air to linger in Kane area

The Kane area is bracing for another blast of bitter cold arctic air with "wind-chill" temperatures of 30 below zero.
The frigid temperatures will be comparable to those of Jan. 7 in the Kane area.
But there is a big difference.

Man jailed for missing Megan's Law deadline

A Tier 3 sexual offender on the state Megan's Law registry has been jailed for failure to meet registration deadlines.
Kevin Yancy Fuller, 55, of 32 Wilson Ave., Port Allegany, was placed in the McKean County Jail on Monday in lieu of $25,000 cash bail set by Kane District Court Judge Dave Engman.

Hearing is rescheduled for former Hamlin Twp. official

A preliminary hearing has been rescheduled for the former Hamlin Township secretary-treasurer who is charged with allegedly stealing township money.
Julie Sue Graham-Olson, 53, of 12 Gallup St., Mt. Jewett, now faces a hearing Monday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. before Kane District Court Judge Dave Engman.
The hearing had been scheduled for Monday.
The defendant requested the hearing earlier this month when she appeared in Central Court at the McKean County Courthouse in Smethport.

Kane’s Nick Anderson now state's second-ranked vaulter

Kane Area High School senior Nick Anderson cleared 14’7” in the pole vault this past Saturday at an indoor track and field meet held at Youngstown State University. In doing so, he is currently listed as having the second highest vault in Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania Track and Field Coaches Association. The organization lists the top vault in the state as being 14’ 9”.

Lady Wolves hold off Johnsonburg in Wolves’ Den

The Kane Lady Wolves evened their record to 8-8 with a hard-fought 52-48 win over the Johnsonburg Ramettes on Monday night in the Wolves’ Den. Three of the Lady Wolves' eight wins have come against their Elk County neighbors. While the home team jumped out to an early 16-7 lead after one quarter, the Ramettes warmed up and played the Lady Wolves hard down to the wire.

Rams easily topple Kane Wolves in 74-38 win

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Rams (16-3) had three players in double figures Monday night in a 74-38 win over the visiting Kane Wolves (5-11).
Seniors Cameron Grumley and Cole Peterson stood head and shoulders above the rest with 26 and 22 points, respectively, following by teammate Zane Hodgdon with 14 points.
The Wolves were led by Jeff Kocjancic with 14 points and Kevin Cleer with 11.
