Rams easily topple Kane Wolves in 74-38 win

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Rams (16-3) had three players in double figures Monday night in a 74-38 win over the visiting Kane Wolves (5-11).
Seniors Cameron Grumley and Cole Peterson stood head and shoulders above the rest with 26 and 22 points, respectively, following by teammate Zane Hodgdon with 14 points.
The Wolves were led by Jeff Kocjancic with 14 points and Kevin Cleer with 11.

35th Annual Tony Dolan Ski for Cancer

Lisa Kibbie, left, and Allison Emer braved the cold temperature to take part in Saturday's 35th Annual Tony Dolan Ski for Cancer. The two are standing next to the Brenda Emer Memorial Trail sign, purchased in honor of Allison's mother and Lisa's friend. The event has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the American Cancer Society.

'Christian Unity' program draws crowd in Kane

Wolves come up just short of Salamanca team title

For the second straight week, the Kane Wolves’ wrestling team finished a large tournament as runner-up. This past weekend, the Wolves crossed the border into New York State to take part in the 16 team Salamanca Tournament. Coach Mike Swartwood’s team took second with 199.5 team points, a mere one point behind Falconer. The Wolves coach said of the winning team, “Falconer had some tough kids, I was impressed with their program.”

After an intensive fact-finding mission, a state school evaluation team has chosen the Kane Middle School for the prestigious national "Schools To Watch" recognition.

Wolves rally in fourth quarter to defeat Wolverines

On a night when the Kane Wolves remembered the greatest game in Kane boys’ basketball history, the 2014 Wolves came through with a hard-fought 56-50 win over the Sheffield Wolverines. The Wolves hosted their backyard rivals from Warren County after honoring the 1949 Kane Wolves that won the Pennsylvania Class B State Championship.

Kane borough bids farewell to 2 veteran employees

Kane borough officials and workers bid farewell to two veteran employees Thursday at an informal luncheon at the borough building.
Sue Holt, a 14-year member of the borough office staff, is leaving her job today. She said she has accepted "other employment in the area."

Scarnati: ‘Obsolete’ state pension must go

A partisan Legislature still appears to stand in the way of state pension reform as “revenues in the Commonwealth continue to lag behind growing expenses,” one such expense being an “unsustainable” pension plan, according to Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson).
Rising pensions costs are expected to hover around $2 billion for next year’s budget, up from $1.4 billion for fiscal year 2013.

Wolves will take part in the Salamanca Tournament

The Kane Wolves wrestling team will take part in the Salamanca Tournament this Friday and Saturday. The team, pictured here after placing second at last weekend's North East Tournament, is now 10-1 on the season after Tuesday's 75-0 win at Bradford.
