MT. JEWETT – Chuck Paar has been re-elected as president of the Mt. Jewett Borough Council.
The election took place Monday at council's reorganization meeting at the borough building on Center Street.

Howard Drilling plans new building in Mt. Jewett

MT. JEWETT – Howard Drilling is planning to erect a new maintenance building on its complex off Bridge Street in Mt. Jewett.
The main building in the project will measure 80x150 feet, according to a notice from the McKean County Planning Commission.

15th annual Rendezvous upcoming

RIDGWAY – The Ridgway Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous, now in its 15th year, will run from Saturday, Feb. 22 to Saturday, March 1, and event organizers Liz and Rick Boni are anticipating its arrival.

KAHS students encouraged to “find their gifts”

Students and faculty from Kane Area High School enjoyed a sports-motivational assembly on Monday afternoon from former Harlem Globetrotter Seth Franco. Franco, a Brooklyn native, encouraged students to “bounce back from hardship” in his hour-long presentation.

Lady Wolves lose to veteran Bradford squad

The young Lady Wolves played well at times in Monday night’s game against Bradford but a poor second quarter had Kane playing catch-up in a battle in the Wolves’ Den.
Bradford coach Bob Hannon started four seniors and a junior while Kane coach Dave Kiehl started two seniors, a junior and two freshmen.

Kane participates in D9 championship

The Kane Wolves cheerleading squad competed Saturday in DuBois in the District 9 competitive cheering championships. Results are as followed: Tied for first - St. Marys Area and Keystone, third - Elk County Catholic, fourth - Redbank Valley, fifth - Karns City, sixth - Curwensville, seventh - DuBois Area, eighth - Punxsutawney, ninth - A-C Valley. Other schools that competed but did not place in the top nine were Bradford, Cranberry, and Kane.

DeLong ranked No. 1

Evan DeLong, pictured here during last year's PIAA State Tournament, is the No. 1 Class AA wrestler in Pennsylvania at 170 pounds, according to Off the Mat Rankings. DeLong finished second at last year's state tournament and is undefeated this season for the Wolves. Kane will travel to Coudersport on Tuesday to take on the Falcons, who also have a top-ranked wrestler in Kyle Bova at 160 pounds.

Kane Streets Department is short on staff

The Kane borough Streets Department is operating shorthanded due to work-related injuries to two employees.
"We're doing the best we can," Streets Department Foreman Mike Beane said Friday while sitting in a snowplow for a 12th consecutive hour. "It's a lot of wear and tear on the body."
