Housing female inmates creates revenue for county

SMETHPORT – McKean County is finding that crime does pay.
The county last year received nearly $71,000 for housing female inmates from Potter and Cameron counties. The county this year already has collected more than $21,000 from the two counties for providing jail space for their female inmates.

Snyder powers past Mitskavich for Gold Pin title

CLEARFIELD — Bart Snyder of Olean, N.Y., who bowls out of Byllye Lanes in Bradford, took home top honors in the District 4 Gold Pin Club tournament held Sunday at Clearfield Lanes. 38 club members and guests, 27 boys and 11 girls, started the afternoon off with a three-game qualifying series with Ryan Mitskavich of DuBois being the tournament leader with a high game of 279 and a 673 series.

Aiden Hulings wins Pa. junior wrestling state title

HARRISBURG – Aiden Hulings, an eighth-grader at Kane Middle School, won the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling Championship for 11-and-12-year-olds in the 125-pound weight class this past weekend at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.

Robert R. “Heitzie” Steudler

Robert R. “Heitzie” Steudler, 83, of Water Street, Johnsonburg, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Lutheran Home of Kane.
He was born March 12, 1931 in Johnsonburg, son of the late William and Mabel (Anderson) Steudler.
On June 6, 1959, he married Joyce A. Kolinoski, and she survives.
He worked at the Johnsonburg Paper Mill for 36 years, retiring in 1992 and also worked for many local farms in his youth.
