JAMES CITY – Bill Edinger, chief of the Highland Township Volunteer Fire Department, believes it’s time for critics to either attend fire department meetings to obtain information or end their vocal criticism.

Kane girls track team finishes 3rd at District meet

BROOKVILLE – The Kane girls’ track and field team finished third out of 21 teams that competed at Friday’s District 9 AA meet in Brookville. The Kane girls finished with 57 points, behind ECC with 105.5 and Johnsonburg with 103. Two Lady Wolves finished in the top two in their events to advance to next week’s PIAA tournament.

Wolves win 3rd consecutive district title; 8 advancing to states

BROOKVILLE – The Kane boys track and field team won their third straight District 9 AA title on Friday at Brookville. Four Wolves earned the right to compete in individual events next week at the PIAA Tournament in Shippensburg, while two Kane relay teams also placed in the top two to advance to the state meet.

Kane girls and boys track teams compete at district meet

Members of the Kane track and field teams travel to Brookville today to compete in the District 9 AA Championships. The top two finishers in each event qualify for next week’s PIAA Championship meet in Shippensburg. Athletes not in first or second place may also qualify for the state tournament if they reach a certain standard at the district meet. The Kane boys are the defending champions.

Ramettes defeat Lady Wolves in softball action

The Johnsonburg Ramettes and Kane Lady Wolves played five innings in a steady drizzle on Thursday at Flickerwood Field. The game was the final one of the regular season for the Johnsonburg squad and the final home game of the season for the Lady Wolves. The Ramettes exploded for 13 runs in the third inning and went on to win 21-6.

Kane High ends baseball season with loss to ECC

Unbeaten Elk County Catholic (ECC) pounded out 12 hits Wednesday in defeating Kane High School 11-1 at Pat Santilli Field in Kane.

ECC cruises over Lady Wolves in softball action

The Elk County Catholic Lady Crusaders exploded for 13 runs in the second and third innings of Wednesday afternoon’s game against Kane on the Lady Wolves’ home field. The Lady Crusaders used good pitching, timely hitting and patience at the plate in getting the 17-0 win in five innings.

LAFAYETTE TWP. – Kristin King was aboard an Allegheny Airlines plane that crashed while attempting to land at the Bradford Regional Airport on a snowy Christmas Eve in 1968.
Just 17 years old, King was returning from Detroit to her home near Harrisburg in time for Christmas Day.
