William Eugene Gillotti

William Eugene Gillotti, 92, of Mobile, Ala., died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.
He was born April 4, 1921 in Kane, son of the late William and Zella Knapp Gillotti.
He was a 1939 graduate of Kane High School. He served in the Air Force in WW II and was at Pearl Harbor when it was bombed.
He is survived by his wife, Marge; daughters Lenore Arena and Gail (Bob) Breidenbach; a son, Eric Gillotti; and brothers Donald, Virgil and Wilbur Gillotti.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Frances Santilli.
Services were held in Mobile, Ala.

Charges against doctor 'bound' to county court

BRADFORD – Charges against a Bradford doctor for the alleged inappropriate touching of two young married women in his medical office have been "bound over" to McKean County Court.

St. Marys North defeats Kane in trap action

April 4, 2014

The St. Marys North squad defeated the Kane squad in trap action on Thursday at the Kane Fish and Game Club. Eric Uhl shot a perfect round of 25 for the visitors, leading them to a 139-137 win over Kane.

B. Pauline McMillen, 87, of 764 JoJo Rd., Kane, died Friday afternoon, April 4, 2014 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Born Nov. 30, 1926 in Brookville, she was the daughter of Russell C. and Gladys G. Weirich Gilmore. On May 4, 1946 in Johnsonburg, she married Donald E. McMillen, who died in 1998.
Pauline worked at Stackpole in Kane for many years until it closed. She then worked in the deli at Quality Markets in Kane for several years.

Women In Timber discuss ways to handle stress

Several stress-relieving ideas were shared Thursday at the 16th annual Women In Timber Luncheon at the Kane Country Club.
Sponsored by the Kane-based Allegheny Hardwood Utilization Group (AHUG), the luncheon is for women associated with the area timber industry. More than 35 attended the two-hour event.

Stephanic in court on homicide charges

RIDGWAY – Elk County President Judge Richard Masson listened to several omnibus pretrial motions on Thursday during a hearing for Michael J. Stephanic Jr., 45, of St. Marys, who is currently incarcerated in the Elk County Prison on charges he allegedly shot and killed June Talmadge, 48, during a Sept. 3 incident in the parking lot of Eastern Sintered Metals.

Ramettes win home opener in Johnsonburg

JOHNSONBURG – The Johnsonburg Ramettes overmatched a young Kane Lady Wolves squad Wednesday afternoon in a 12-2 five-inning game at Knothole in Johnsonburg.
The Ramettes, comprised of student athletes from both Ridgway and Johnsonburg in the first year of a cooperative sports agreement, tallied 12 runs on 10 hits in the game.
