The Kane Volunteer Fire Department held its annual election Tuesday evening at the fire hall.

MT. JEWETT â Howard Drilling is planning to erect a new maintenance building on its complex off Bridge Street in Mt. Jewett.
The main building in the project will measure 80x150 feet, according to a notice from the McKean County Planning Commission.
RIDGWAY â The Ridgway Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous, now in its 15th year, will run from Saturday, Feb. 22 to Saturday, March 1, and event organizers Liz and Rick Boni are anticipating its arrival.
Students and faculty from Kane Area High School enjoyed a sports-motivational assembly on Monday afternoon from former Harlem Globetrotter Seth Franco. Franco, a Brooklyn native, encouraged students to âbounce back from hardshipâ in his hour-long presentation.
The young Lady Wolves played well at times in Monday nightâs game against Bradford but a poor second quarter had Kane playing catch-up in a battle in the Wolvesâ Den.
Bradford coach Bob Hannon started four seniors and a junior while Kane coach Dave Kiehl started two seniors, a junior and two freshmen.

The Kane Wolves cheerleading squad competed Saturday in DuBois in the District 9 competitive cheering championships. Results are as followed: Tied for first - St. Marys Area and Keystone, third - Elk County Catholic, fourth - Redbank Valley, fifth - Karns City, sixth - Curwensville, seventh - DuBois Area, eighth - Punxsutawney, ninth - A-C Valley. Other schools that competed but did not place in the top nine were Bradford, Cranberry, and Kane.
