The Kane Lady Wolves soccer team honored five seniors prior to Monday's game. The home team would pull out a big 2-1 win over Clarion.
"We couldn't have been paired up against a better team for our Senior Recognition game," said Kane girls varsity soccer coach Allie Saquin. "The girls came out ready to play and did a great job as a team."
In the first half the Lady Wolves were able to hold clarion to only three shots on goal. The defense worked well on challenging the ball and keeping their offense out.
Travis James Wolfe, 24, of 8 Elm St., Bradford, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at his residence.
Born Nov. 4, 1986, in Kane, he was a son of Larry and Donna Allen Wolfe.
Travis is survived, in addition to his parents, by a sister, Lori (Ivan) McClain of James City; three brothers, Robert Wolfe of El Cajon, Calif., David Wolfe and Luke Wolfe, both of Kane; and his maternal grandmother, Nancy Hulben of Smethport.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Betty Jane Wolfe.
October 9th
Rose Marie Lundeen, 94, formerly of 339 Haines St., died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011, at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
She was born in north Kane on Dec. 10, 1916, the oldest daughter of Nicholas and Barbara Balaban Novosel. On Sept. 20, 1947, she married DeVere Lundeen who preceded her in death in October of 2002.
October 7th
I received a nice note from a friend who read my column where I mentioned being in Alaska. He said that it brought back a lot of memories of when he used to drive truck up the Alaskan Highway and back. I never knew he drove that route, but I can imagine the stories he could write about those drives. When I lived in Alaska, I did a lot of driving, mostly in the Anchorage area, but ever so often, I would go up north towards Fairbanks. In the late 60s early 70s there was only one highway heading up to Fairbanks.
On a night that was filled with emotion in the stadium the Kane Wolves and Elk County Catholic Crusaders put on a classic high school football game as the Wolves fell short, 13-6.
October 5th
The Kane wolves girls soccer team picked up a big win Wednesday with an exciting overtime victory of St. Marys. The visiting team got on the board quickly with just over four minutes into the game Holly Shields scored unassisted. Then with only four minutes again Shields had an assist to Shannon Bridges to put the Lady Dutch ahead 2-0.
The Kane Wolves boys soccer team came into Tuesday's match against the Johnsonburg Rams for their seventh straight home game before traveling to Coudersport on Thursday. With yet another league game the Wolves knew nothing would be easy. Kane traveled to Johnsonburg three weeks ago and prevailed with a hard fought 3-0 win.
October 4th
The Kane Country Club was the site of the District IX Girls Golf Championship. Under other than favorable conditions there were some great scores. Samantha Dinger from Redbank Valley led the way with a great round of 84. The next two spots however were tightly contested with Kristy Haines from Elk County Catholic and Larissa Roberts from Union coming in at  87, while Kane's own Kyla Hoag and Bradford's Kate Colella just missed the cut with great scores of 88.
October 3rd
After two disappointing losses last week, the Wolves looked to get back on track against the Ridgway Elkers.
October 1st
CURWENSVILLE – The Kane Wolves made the long trip to Curwensville to take on a good Golden Tide football team but came away the victims of a 13-6 loss.
