Wilma I. Arnold

Wilma I. Arnold, 78, of 106 E.L. Day Drive, Westline, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at Lakeview Senior Care and Living Center in Smethport.
Born Nov. 12, 1934, in Westline, she was a daughter of  the late Martin and Margauretta Young Dann. On Sept. 12, 1952, in Westline, she married Robert D. Arnold Sr. who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Arnold was a psychiatric aide at Warren State Hospital for 28 years retiring in 2000.

Perry Productions movie premieres Saturday

Local filmmaker Sean Perry takes his latest step in his professional journey on Saturday night with the premiere of his latest film, "Alive and Unburied." This will be the fourth premiere Perry has held in his career, with the latest being last year’s "Diamonds are a Con’s Best Friend."

Wolves look to clinch AML South crown with win over Ridgway

The Kane Wolves are now 7-0 on the season but still need a win over Ridgway this evening to clinch the AML South Title. The Wolves will be celebrating Senior Recognition prior to the game, so look for Kane coach Todd Silfies' squad to be ready to play tonight.

Lady Wolves sweep Ridgway in volleyball

The Kane Wolves won the first two sets of Thursday night’s match with Ridgway rather easily, then had to struggle to finish out the match in the third set in the Wolves’ Den. The Lady Wolves avenged their four-set loss to the Lady Elkers on their home court earlier in the season with a three-game sweep with scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 28-26.

Kane boys lose to Brookville in final game of season

The Kane boys’ soccer team lost their final game of the season by a 7-2 score at home on Thursday. The Raiders jumped out to a 5-0 lead with four minutes left in the first half but Kane coach Ernie Chamberlain’s Wolves never gave up.

Lady Wolves soccer team drops season finale to Brookville

The Kane girls’ soccer team lost their final game of the season on Wednesday to a deep Brookville team in the Lady Wolves’ Senior Recognition game.

Josephine L. Simsick, 96, of 100 High Point Dr., formerly of 2 Greeves St., died Thursday morning, Oct. 17, 2013 at Kane Community Hospital.
Born at a wood camp in Dunkle's Corners, on March 17, 1917, she was a daughter of  the late Anton and Josephine Lican Kacin. On May 3, 1939, in Kane, she married Max Simsick who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Simsick was a homemaker and a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church.
Surviving are a niece, Rose Marie Campbell of Smethport, and a nephew, John E. Bizzak of James City.

Gloria A. Barber, 83, of 3 Chestnut St., Mt. Jewett, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at her residence.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett.

Flickerwood Wine Cellars hosted the Kane Community Hospital’s Annual Report to the Community on Wednesday evening. KCH Board Member and Secretary Eric Ross called to order the meeting and turned the microphone over to hospital CEO Gary Rhodes.

Kane Wolves beat Dutch in home closer

In the final regular season contest of the year, the middle school boys lost 21-38 to the visiting St. Mary’s Flying Dutch while the boys varsity cruised to an 18-36 victory, capping a 10-1 campaign.
