A rabies clinic was held last Saturday at the Kane Fire Hall by the McKean County SPCA. A total of 149 dogs and cats were vaccinated. For those who missed the event, the Bradford chapter of the SPCA will sponsor another Rabies Clinic on Saturday, April 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the animal shelter at 80 Glenwood Ave., Bradford. Pictured is Bilbo, a resident at the SPCA. He is great with dogs, cats and children. Bilbo, along with many others at the SPCA, would make a fine addition to home.
A fire of undetermined origin damaged a barn Wednesday afternoon at the Sandy and Larry Johnson horse farm at 739 S. Settlement Rd., Wetmore Township.

The $280 million project entails constructing a full-length, full-depth concrete cutoff wall through the dam to reduce risk and restore the dam to normal operation.
When the game between the St. Marys Area Flying Dutchmen and Bradford Owls was postponed on Wednesday afternoon, the Elk County Catholic Crusaders and Kane Wolves took advantage of the open field at Berwind Park and moved their matchup there due to reportedly poor field conditions in Kane. The Wolves remained the home team in the contest, but that did not matter to the Crusaders, who scored in every inning but the fifth to claim a 10-0 shutout in six innings.
Howard Sidney Graham, 86, of Route 6, Kane, and formerly of Milford, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at his residence.
Born Jan. 28, 1928 at the family farmhouse in Cairo, N.Y., he was a son ofÂ the late Claude and Edith Howard Graham. On July 22, 1957, in Yonkers, N.Y., he married Ann Gezirjian who survives.
Mr. Graham was a member of the Kane Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and served as an elder for many years in Port Jervis, N.Y., Monroe, N.Y. and Milford, as well as in Kane. He was in charge of building two Kingdom Halls, one in Monroe, N.Y. and the other in Milford.
Ann J. Rolick, 85, of Absolut Care, 451 Broad St. , Salamanca, N.Y., died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at her residence.
Born Feb. 10, 1929 in James City, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Fuksa Recny. On Sept. 17, 1949, in James City, she married Frank Rolick who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rolick, a graduate of Kane High School, had been employed at various times by the Silk Mill in James City, McCrory McClellen in Kane, Stackpole and the Lutheran Home at Kane.
