Port Allegany woman killed in crash

LIBERTY TWP. – A 40-year-old Port Allegany woman was killed Wednesday morning in a head-on collision on U.S. Route 6 in Liberty Township, McKean County.
According to reports, Melissa L. Stilts, 40, of Port Allegany was operating a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu west on U.S. Route 6 when she reportedly crossed the center line and struck a 2007 Volvo dump truck operated by 73-year-old Richard L. McDowell of Smethport. Both vehicles sustained disabling front end damage.

Kim Frances Willman

Kim Frances Willman, 54, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014.
She was born Sept. 10, 1959, in Casablanca, Morocco. Kim earned three degrees, including a master’s degree from Penn State, Pittsburgh Art Institute and University of NOVA Southeast. She loved gardening and pets and was an avid fan of Penn State athletics, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Although in good health, her early demise was due to the onset of severe Dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease.

Richard “Dick” Danielson

Richard “Dick” Danielson, 77, formerly of 124 W. Main St., Mt. Jewett, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Cummings Funeral Home, Inc. in Mt. Jewett.

Michael J. Bundy Sr.

Michael J. Bundy Sr., 58, of 117 Ash St., died Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Sena Kean Manor.
Born Dec. 1, 1955, in Kane, he was a son of the late John "Jack" and Joyce Spence Bundy Sr.
Mr. Bundy had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and other industries.
Surviving are seven children, Michael, Michelle, Merle, Matthew, Marsha, Mark and Alishia Bundy; a brother, John "Jack" Bundy Jr.; three sisters, Bonnie Orinko, Vicki Hazen and Marsha Morrison; 16 grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Wetmore Township to request PennDOT speed survey

After receiving a request from a resident of Burning Well Road, the Wetmore Township supervisors agreed on a motion to request a speed study, to be conducted by PennDOT to determine the speed limit on the road. According to township secretary/treasurer and supervisor Elaine Bodistow, there is currently no speed limit signs on the road, which means that drivers can assume that the state speed limit, 55 miles per hour, is in effect.

Howard L. Davidson

Howard L. Davidson, 81, of 13003 Route 948 in Highland Township, formerly of Ludlow, died Tuesday morning, July 1, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital.
Born Nov. 22, 1932 in Ludlow, he was the son of Roy N. and Geneva Montgomery Davidson. On Aug. 30, 1953, he married Peggy L. Bradybaugh, who survives.
After serving in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, Howard was a welder and mechanic for National Fuel Gas Co. for many years. He was a member of VFW Post #1132 in Kane, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Richard W. Carlson

July 1, 2014

Richard W. Carlson, 90, of 9716 Rt 6, Kane, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Kane Community Hospital.    
Born Oct. 20, 1923, he was a son of  Herman and  Ester Hanson Carlson. On March 15, 1943,  he eloped and married the love of his life, Isabelle Bloomquist, who died April 23 of this year.
Richard was a beloved husband for 71 years and, as much as his family tried to ease his pain, they feel he died from a broken heart. He will be sadly missed by all.

Kane man is charged with fleeing police

July 1, 2014

A Kane man has been charged with fleeing police (a felony) after a high-speed chase Sunday on Route 6 west of Kane.
Hunter Ray Smith, 21, of 407 Oak St., Kane, has been placed in the McKean County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
Stave Police Trooper Roger McCloskey placed the charges after the Smith vehicle finally stopped in the parking lot of Zook Motors.

Local man jailed on drug charge

A Wetmore Township man is charged with a felony for allegedly providing prescription pain medicine to a Kane woman.
Salvatore Geral Colella, 55, of 582 S. Settlement Road, Wetmore Township, has been placed in the McKean County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail, according to court documents.
