Kane Wolves edge Ridgway, 12-7

RIDGWAY – A late first half touchdown proved to be enough as Kane football won their third consecutive game with a 12-7 victory over Ridgway Friday night at Memorial Field in Ridgway.

Adventures of a wildlife photographer-"Elk adventure"

Fall is a great time of the year for photography with the changing of the leaves, the brisk air, and time for a trip down to elk country. I write about the Pennsylvania Elk quite often, mainly because I find them one of the better photo opportunities in the area. I just can’t get enough of them. I know some residents of the Benezette area aren’t too thrilled about the fall season. The Elk rut attracts countless sightseers, the traffic, the noise, and yes, those pesky wildlife photographers.

Carsen T. Davis, 13, of 400 Maple St., Kane, died early morning Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 after a life-long illness.
Born Sept. 3, 1999 in St. Marys, he was the son of Megan Wile and William Davis, Jr.
Catholic by faith, Carsen enjoyed music, walks, going to school and Colts football. Even though Carsen's life on earth was brief, he had a profound impact on those lives he touched.  He will be sadly missed by family, school friends and the community.

Marion Lobaugh

Marion R. Lobaugh, 85, of Campbelltown Road, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Kane Community Hospital.
Born July 28, 1927, in Corsica, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Oakes Fitzsimmons. On May 18, 1947, in Smethport, she married Howard Lobaugh who preceded her in death in 2001.
Mrs. Lobaugh, a homemaker, is survived by three sons, Howard (Diane) Lobaugh II of Johnsonburg, Charles (Susie) Lobaugh of Annapolis, Md. and Harry (Cathy) Lobaugh of Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Cheryl (Dan) Milbourne of Mt. Joy; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Wolves look to build on momentum as they battle Elkers

The Kane Wolves were firing on all cylinders last Friday night as they defeated the Johnsonburg Rams by a score of 41-0. The Wolves amassed 470 yards on offense while the defense pitched their first shutout of the season.

Kane girls soccer drops season finale to Tide

Kane participates in Forest Awareness Program

JOHSONBURG – On Wednesday, Oct. 17 students from St. Marys Catholic Elementary, Johnsonburg Elementary and Kane Elementary participated in the Forest Awareness Program and toured the Pennsylvania Woodmobile at the Johnsonburg Fire Hall. The Allegheny Hardwood Utilization Group (AHUG) and the Pennsylvania Hardwood Development Council (HDC) brings the programs to the region.

Bucheit scores four in Kane’s 5-4 victory

Taylor Bucheit scored four goals in the Lady Wolves’ 5-4 victory over West Forest on Wednesday in Kane.
The junior got the home team on the scoreboard early when she took a pass from Dawn Saquin and knocked a shot by the Lady Fires’ goalie a little more than one minute into the game to get the ball rolling for Kane.
