Helen Marie Rietter Lynde, 67, of Erie and formerly of Kane, died Oct. 2, 2013 and went to join her parents, son and brother.
Helen was born in Kane on Sept. 8, 1946 daughter of the late Francis and Edith Carlson Rietter.
She graduated from Kane Area High School in 1964, where she sang in the Kane Choralliers and also was a cheerleader.
Helen worked at the Hamlin Bank in Kane and married Tom Lynde who was in the U.S. Coast Guard in July 1967.Â In 1968 they moved to Norfolk, Va., where Helen worked at Virginia National Bank until 1970 when they moved to Erie.Â
The federal government shutdown has prompted the eviction of campers in the Allegheny National Forest (ANF).
Allegheny Site Management (ASM), a private company from Bradford, has been directed by the U.S. Forest Service to "evict everyone" and "close all gates" to eight campgrounds it manages in the ANF.
A close friend said it best.
Going into a hospital with Brenda Emer was like being with a "rock star."
"Everyone knew her," Amy Geer said. "And everyone loved her."
Geer is one of many friends who is paying tribute to Emer, a James City resident who died late Tuesday afternoon following a courageous and miraculous 16-year battle with breast cancer.
The 10th annual Pink Power Day will be observed Friday in Kane.
The special day is held in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Born Nov. 15, 1968 in Kane, she was the daughter of Wallace R. and Jo Ann Swanson Dyne.Â On Aug. 3, 1991 in Kane, she married Cy E. Emer, who survives.
Brenda was employed by the Kane Area School District and Jim Airgood Busing.Â She was an active member of Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church in Kane, where served in the Altar Guild and played in the handbell choir.
