The Kane Wolves defeated the Sheffield Wolverines 34-6 back on Aug. 31 in both teamsâ season openers. Both Kane coach Todd Silfies and Sheffield coach Dave Fitch know that the Sheffield team that lost to the Wolves in week one is not the same Wolverine team that will take the field tonight in the AML championship.
PITTSBURGH â Surrounded by transportation advocates and regional officials, Governor Tom Corbett on Wednesday highlighted the Pittsburgh regionâs need for a comprehensive transportation plan.
Corbett, standing in the shadow of the Birmingham Bridge, also urged the public to call their lawmakers and demand action on a bill. Negotiations on a compromise transportation plan will continue when the General Assembly returns to session on Nov. 12.
Kinzua Bridge State Park announces the opening of its new picture viewing platform. This is a new addition to the park that will allow visitors to go underneath the bridge near the southern abutment. It is an area that many visitors have asked for access to take pictures of themselves or loved ones with the bridge towers in the background.

The young Kane volleyball team saw their season come to a halt on Tuesday night after a loss to North Clarion in the first round of the District 9 A playoffs. Kane coach Judy Kesslerâs Lady Wolves entered the season with only two seniors, setter Katelyn Moran and middle hitter Morgan Nicholson. James J. Marconi, 85, formerly of Hemlock Avenue in Kane, died early Monday morning, Oct. 28, 2013 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he was a resident.
Born Feb. 7, 1928 in James City, he was the son of Enrico âHenryâ and Anita Loveless Marconi.Â On May 27, 1950 in Kane, he married Rosella F. âRosieâ Fiscus, who died May 12, 2012.
Rachel Rose McKenna, 81, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly from Kane, died Sept. 20, 2013 in Summerlin Hospital, Las Vegas.
She was born on Nov. 13, 1931 the daughter of the late George and Mary Frasina Raymond.
On Aug. 25, 1964, she married Edward McKenna who preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 2003.
She was a graduate of Kane Area High School. She worked for Stackpole, Nationwide Insurance and Deitches Clothing. She was a member of St. Callistus Roman Catholic Church.
