Local dairy farmer Jim Detrick has been providing the Kane High football team with milk for two-a-day sessions for the last several years. This year he was the recipient of a grant provided by the Grassroots Dairy Promotion Board.
As Kane teacher Jeff Gibbs serves a 10-day suspension, there is speculation that his link to one particular email may have raised the wrath of certain school leaders.
As part of his discipline, suspended Kane teacher Jeff Gibbs has signed a statement of "regret" for using a school computer on school time for union business.
Robert L. Evans, age 66, of James City, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013.
He was born on Dec. 19, 1946, a son of the late Edward and Velma (McCracken) Evans.
He was a former New Sewickley Twp. Police officer, owned and operated a large equipment business, and most recently worked for Allegheny Color.
Conrad F. Anderson, 94, formerly of 620 Welsh St., Kane, died Saturday morning, Aug. 24, 2013 at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where he had resided.
Born Oct. 26, 1918 in Warren, he was the son of Gust and Signe Anderson.Â On May 10, 1951 in Kane, he married Alice Palmquist, who died in 2007.
Mr. Anderson was a self-employed accountant for many years.Â He belonged to Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church in Kane, Kane Lodge #566 F&AM and the Rod and Gun Club in Jamestown, N.Y.
John Kenneth Bernhard, 39, of 22 Oberg Ave., Mt. Jewett, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at his residence.
Born Jan. 7, 1974, in Kane, he was a son of Ken and Sally Verolini Bernhard.
John, a graduate of Kane Area High School,Â had been employed by PennDOT for many years.Â He also had helped with the SSG. Ken VanGiesen MemorialÂ Fallen Soldier Foundation which honors Ken VanGiesen and all fallen American soldiers.

Thatâ€™s how Kane School District Superintendent Dr. Maryann Anderson signaled the start of classes Tuesday for more than 1,200 Kane students.
Beginning Tuesday, the school day for students in kindergarten through 12th grade will run from 8:05 a.m. to 3:05 a.m.
Attendees at the American Spirit Aviation Festival at the St. Marys Municipal Airport on Saturday likely saw Civil Air Patrol members from both the Clarion and Warren squadrons assisting with the operation of the event and also manning an information booth to spread the word about the organization as St. Marys will soon be getting its own Civil Air Patrol squadron.
Some people make a goal of competing in a 5K road race or a marathon or even a triathlon. For most people, that would be challenging enough, but for a group of area residents, those pursuits arenâ€™t extreme enough. Several area residents have decided to enter the Tough Mudder challenge.
Kane School District Superintendent Dr. Maryann Anderson has suspended high school teacher Jeff Gibbs for alleged violations of school policy.
According to sources, Gibbs reportedly has been suspended for 10 days and wonâ€™t be teaching Tuesday when classes resume.
