Austin Pierson and Ben Reynolds of Kane took part in the 2013 District 4 Pepsi Finals recently and bowled well enough to qualify for the state tournament.

Brendan J. "B.J." Crimmins, 67, of 2 Greeves St., Kane, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport.
Born June 8, 1945, in New York City, N.Y., he was a son of the late Joseph and Margaret Walsh Crimmins.
He was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and the Kane VFW Lodge #1132. Throughout his life, he had worked at times as a cook and in the security field in various places in Connecticut.
B.J. served in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy.

Kyla Hoag and Bailey Swanson combined for a 5-inning no-hitter Saturday afternoon as the Lady Wolves toppled visiting Johnsonburg in a makeup game.
JOHNSONBURG – Johnsonburg baseball scored eight runs in the sixth inning to take an 11-1 win over Kane Saturday afternoon at Knothole Area Recreational Park.

Janet M. Picarelli, 67, of 432 Tionesta Ave., Kane, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2013, in Painesville, Ohio, at the home of her daughter.
Born May 12, 1945, in Kane, she was a daughter of the late Francis "Red"Â and Marie Dann Chirillo.
Jan was a beloved mother and grandmother. For many years she was a childcare provider. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and her church, the New Beginnings Assembly of God in East Kane.
